Excerpt from today's Baton Rouge Business Report's Daily Report:

Chamber endorses two amendments

The Baton Rouge Area Chamber has come out in favor of two constitutional amendments on Tuesday's ballot. The chamber endorsed Amendment 2, which raises the maximum amount of the natural resources severance tax allocated to parishes to $850,000, and Amendment 7, which consolidates the number of assessors in Orleans Parish from seven to one. Stephen Moret, chamber president and chief executive officer, says both amendments would help economic development in the area by giving parishes more money from local oil and gas production and improving the image of the state.
