On behalf of 16,000 public school students, education rights advocates, including Citizens for 1 Greater New Orleans, are asking the Louisiana Supreme Court to uphold funding for Type 2 charter schools. Oral argument is set to be heard on September 5, 2017, before Louisiana's highest court and is the culmination of a years-long fight for the 32 Type 2 Charter schools that receive dollars from the state-run funding program. This case directly threatens the choice of parents and families to obtain a quality public education by seeking to strip these schools of state funding.
